Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival
Using creative approaches to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination.
See Me has been a partner to the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival since its launch in 2007.
Run by the Mental Health Foundation, the festival demonstrates year after year the central role the arts and creative projects can take in exploring issues around mental health and breaking down the stigma that creates a barrier to so many people accessing support or speaking openly about their experiences.
See Me has sponsored the anti-stigma prize in the SMHAF film festival for the last five years, and a See Me volunteer sits on the jury panel.
In 2019 See Me and the festival partnered with An Lanntair in Stornoway to deliver a participatory arts project about mental health.
Over the years, many See Me volunteer-led creative activities have been included in the festival programme and have benefitted hugely from the wider reach and thematic focus provided by the festival.
