Boots and Beards
Boots and Beards has played an important role in our work around intersectional stigma.
Our partnership with Boots and Beards began in October 2024.
We worked with the Glasgow-based organisation to develop a workshop exploring intersectional stigma, which we’ll be delivering with communities and organisations across Scotland to help people better understand the complex nature of stigma.
We worked with Boots and Beards staff to gather feedback on different parts of the workshop. They also emphasised the crucial role of having an intersectional approach to mental health stigma to address inequalities.
Boots and Beards works with Black and minority ethnic communities to improve their health and wellbeing. They believe in working together and in changing lives for the better.
They do this through physical activity, art sessions, carers’ fortnightly meetups and aim to increase opportunities for people to participate, especially among under-represented groups.
*See Me recognises that terminology and labels used to refer to social groups is ethically and politically complex, can be harmful and is subject to debate and update.
On our website we have used the terminology partners themselves or cited publications have used to refer to the communities they are led by or referring to. We are committed to continually engaging with this critical debate to understand and limit harm.
