TRIGGER WARNING: The following work is a short film project that discusses suicide. For sources of support, please see our urgent help page.

A Little While Longer is a short film project created by Dr Isa Rao and Tom Van Den Hurk.

It addresses and aims to dismantle suicide stigma, particularly among male Scottish audiences. In the film, three male suicide survivors are given the opportunity to tell and visually illustrate their stories.

Filming took place on Arran in 2023, and the natural backdrop has a particular significance as the men share their experiences of healing and solace.

“I found myself having to run outside and what I discovered was in the vastness of the outdoors I felt smaller and as a result my anxiety felt smaller.

After the screening, the filmmakers reflected on the project.

‘We were surprised to find that even our protagonists said that the project confronted them with stigmas about suicide that they still held themselves.
"This in combination with what we heard during the discussions after the community screenings has made me realise that even just providing a space where talking about suicide is ‘allowed’ and encouraged can have a great impact’.

A Little While Longer is available for a community screening, and if interested shouldcontact Dr, Isa Rao at isa.rao@gmx.de
