Creative approaches

Creativity can offer a chance to explore, understand and tackle mental health stigma and discrimination while providing a safe space for people to take part.

The relationship between creativity and mental health has existed for centuries, and can offer a powerful platform to tackle stigma and discrimination. Creative approaches when carefully facilitated can offer a safer way for people to explore, understand and address stigma and discrimination.

Over the years, we've worked with partners to develop approaches to creative engagement including: the See Me Anti-Stigma Arts Fund, commissioning creative projects and supporting See Me volunteers to develop their own creative projects.

The conversations, relationships, tools and artwork that have been created through these projects have profoundly helped to develop our understanding of intersectional stigma and how we speak about it and tackle it.
